Crafted with homemade vegetable scrap broth infused with shrimp essence, this recipe showcases the art of balancing rich flavors and fresh ingredients. Elevate your ramen experience with ginger, garlic, sesame oil, and a vibrant medley of broccoli and carrots, all harmoniously coming together in a bowl of comfort and indulgence.

Ingredients: Indulge in the flavors of our Gourmet Shrimp Ramen, designed for a party of four:

  • 6 cups homemade vegetable scrap broth (infused with shrimp shells)
  • 1 3/4-inch piece of finely chopped ginger
  • 3 cloves finely chopped garlic
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 small bunch broccoli, cut into pieces
  • 3 carrots, sliced
  • 4 packages ramen (seasoning packets optional)
  • 1 pound shrimp, heads and shells on if possible

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Broth Infusion: In a pot, combine the vegetable scrap broth with shrimp heads and shells. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain the broth to capture the rich essence of shrimp.
  2. Aromatic Saute: Introduce sesame oil to the pot, followed by a sauté of finely chopped ginger and garlic. Allow them to mingle and release their aromatic essence for a couple of minutes.
  3. Broccoli and Carrot Symphony: Pour the strained broth back into the pot and bring it to a boil. Add the broccoli and carrots, cooking until they reach a delightful tenderness. This dynamic duo adds a burst of color and nutrients to our gourmet ramen.
  4. Noodle and Shrimp Elegance: Introduce the ramen and shrimp into the pot, cooking just until the shrimp turn a vibrant pink and the noodles reach the desired doneness. This brief but crucial step ensures the perfect texture and flavor balance.
  5. Soy Sauce Harmony: Add soy sauce to the pot, adjusting the quantity according to your taste preferences. This final touch brings all the flavors together in perfect harmony.
  6. Season to Perfection: Take a moment to taste the broth and adjust the seasonings as needed. This step allows you to customize the dish to suit your unique palate.
  7. Serve and Savor: Ladle the Gourmet Shrimp Ramen into bowls, ensuring each serving boasts a generous mix of broth, noodles, vegetables, and succulent shrimp. Garnish with additional chopped green onions or cilantro for an extra layer of freshness.

Chef’s Tips and Culinary Considerations:

  1. Broth Sensation: Elevate the homemade vegetable scrap broth by experimenting with additional herbs and spices. A touch of lemongrass or a hint of star anise can add depth and complexity to the broth.
  2. Noodle Variety: Explore the world of ramen noodles by opting for different varieties such as wheat, egg, or rice noodles. Each type contributes a unique texture to the dish.
  3. Garnish Grandeur: Elevate the presentation by garnishing your Gourmet Shrimp Ramen with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, chopped green onions, or a dash of chili oil for a touch of heat.
